Strengthening the third leg of the International Triangle
The philosophy behind T2A
Brussels-based Track2Asia is born from the firm belief in the need for and benefit of informal dialogue between Europe and the Far East. T2A intends to explore approaches which differ from mere ‘tit for tat’ diplomacy. It aims at developing a soft diplomatic channel – Track II, which Europe seems to lack in some parts of East Asia – that is to serve as a complement and supplement to traditional Track I diplomacy. Its endeavours go beyond the academic research and exchanges, involvement in think tank conferences and activities, and also stretch further than the fieldwork and practical undertakings that characterise NGOs.
Track2Asia seeks to function as a bridge between people, places and ideas. Acting to unite different countries, types of actors and organisations, T2A believes the medium is not the message. Its mission is to convey the message, rather than to shine as the message-bearer.
What T2A brings to the table
How do we do it
With Glyn Ford as its founder and with the expertise of its other members, T2A offers a unique understanding of the European Union, its Institutions and their functioning. Therefore it helps the EU-Asia dialogue by explaining the European way of thinking and behaving to its Asian counterparts, and advising them on how to engage with and respond to European challenges.
Glyn Ford has been invited countless times as a speaker to conferences and briefings or for high-level informal meeting with Institution officials, government representatives and Embassies personnel to give his advise as expert on East Asia. Now T2A complements this involvement with its organisational capacity to be more practically involved in the European decision-making process towards East Asia and its ability to carry wide-scale projects on the ground.
The young and international team that is siding Glyn Ford contributes not only with its expertise, but also with fresh ideas and alternative way of thinking, an indispensable asset in the creation of new objectives and strategies to achieve originals projects, making T2A a window to the future.
